The need

The so-called tars in the producer gas are one of the major problems for the application of gasification systems and cause problems in the process equipment as well as the engines and turbines used in application of the producer gas. The determination of the tar content in the gas is, therefore, of major importance in research and application. The detection of tars is a complex undertaking due to the large variation of tar properties and the properties of gasification devices. This is why standardized tar measuring methods are required for comparability.

The solution

  • Further development of the semi-continuous online tar analyzer, based on the FID (Flame Ionization Detection)-Technique
  • Testing new tar analyzer in lab and at industrial gasifiers
  • Business model: Development and market implementation
