Find out more about the course structure of our MSc SELECT programme. Here, you can see an example of how your courses could look. These pages also provide information on mandatory modules and minimum credit points needed to proceed with the programme.
Aimed at true sustainable energy enthusiasts, MSc SELECT maps out the route from basic renewable energy sources to future energy systems, fostering thinking on global responsibility on the way. Sustainable energy services are a key issue for humanity; before any service is delivered, its complete environmental footprint must be considered. MSc SELECT starts from the concept of basic renewable energy sources and considers the pathways towards a future sustainable energy system. The target is always minimal environmental impact, whatever the kind, throughout the whole energy conversion chain from primary energy source to delivered service. MSc SELECT collaborates with industrial partners such as SWECO, ABB and Fortum. This collaboration usually results in guest lectures, company visits, degree projects, internship and job opportunities.
All our students and teachers are true enthusiasts with a passion for innovation and sustainable energy. This is evident in the many awards that our students have received, such as the EDP University Challenge 2013, Emprèn Contest 2013 and EIT Change Award 2015.
Grand challenge as part of the programme
Our students work in groups on real-life projects from one of our industrial partners. We have a challenge-driven approach where the best solution from each project will be chosen for further progression.
During your first year, you will be able to choose between two universities: KTH or UPC. The courses focus on topics like sustainable energy conversion, renewable energy and environomical pathways.
During your second year, you will acquire further in-depth knowledge via individually chosen specialization areas plus related thesis work:
Available second year specializations are:
- Innovation in Energy Systems (TU/e)
- Offshore Energy Systems (IST)
- Polygeneration (KTH)
- Solar Systems (UPC)
- Sustainable Fuels Economy (AGH)
KIC InnoEnergy Mobility Concept
Our strong international mobility concept means that you spend your first year at one university, your second year at another, and have the possibility to do your internship at a third location.
Role of industrial partners
MSc SELECT has industrial partners such as SWECO, ABB and Fortum. All have been active in the curriculum design, selection process, teaching, internship and job opportunities. All three have indicated a strong future need of competence in the field of sustainable energy.
Added value activities
Between the first and the second year, you will have the opportunity to take an internship in collaboration with one of the programme’s partners.
ESADE Crash Course in Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Students have the chance to spend a week in Barcelona studying Innovation and Entrepreneurship at one of the best business schools in Europe, ESADE.
